How To Boost Your Child’s Natural Defenses

Child’s Natural Defenses

As parents, we want nothing more than to see that our children are not only happy but healthy too. One crucial aspect of ensuring they do have good health is their immune system being strong. The immune system is the body’s natural defense against illness and disease, so taking care of it means you can boost your child’s natural defenses in a positive way. Read on to find out how to do this to ensure your child has a strong immune system and is therefore healthy in general.

Give Them Good Food

Eating the right food can play a major part in strengthening the immune system because it means that your child’s body will have all the nutrients it needs. If it has everything it needs, the immune system is sure to be a robust one that can do its job by fighting off germs and bacteria. Even if your child does get sick, a good immune system will mean that they don’t feel as ill as they would otherwise, and they recover more quickly.

Ideally, your child should eat plenty of the right nutrients. One of these nutrients is vitamin C, which comes from citrus fruits, strawberries, peppers, and kiwis, for example. Plenty of vitamin C provides the antioxidants needed to boost the immune system. Zinc is also important for the same reason, and zinc can come from nuts, seeds, and lean meat.

Teach Good Hygiene Habits

When your child understands good hygiene habits, they can limit the spread of germs and keep themselves much healthier. Their immune system will be able to stay strong and not have to constantly be fighting off germs and other bacteria.

Make sure your child knows to wash their hands after going to the toilet and after playing outside, for example, and show them how to do it the right way with soap and water. You can also have a regular bath time scheduled, which is something they can continue as they get older when it has become a habit. Oral health is also important; when teeth are not taken care of, this can lead to infections and bacteria spreading through the body, which can compromise the immune system. It’s often best to make an appointment with experts such as bafdentistry.com to check all is well and to offer the right advice so your children can have healthy mouths.

Encourage An Active Lifestyle

An active lifestyle doesn’t just help with your child’s physical fitness and weight levels, and it doesn’t just help with their mental health by keeping them occupied. An active lifestyle will also help to boost their immune system, especially when they are outside as well.

When possible, encourage your child to go outside to play rather than staying in watching TV or playing video games. These things do have their place, but some time outside every day (when it’s possible to do so) is excellent for their health and fitness and their immune system. It’s even better if you can be outside with them at least some of the time; playing together will increase your bond and that’s never a bad thing.
